Burrator Reservoir - popular with walkers, cyclists and horse riders due to its footpaths and bridleways. Many of the trails lead on to Dartmoor so it makes an ideal starting point for longer trips.
Buckland Abbey
Tavistock Often referred to as the western gateway to Dartmoor. Te largest town in West Devon, excellent for visitors with its wide range of shops and eateries, a pannier market, riverside park, leisure centre, swimming at the Meadowlands Leisure Pool and live shows and cinema at the Wharf Arts Centre. It is also a good base for exploring the surrounding beautiful countryside, the wild Dartmoor scenery, the many nearby pretty villages and a variety of National Trust properties. For a special DAY OUT, the Tavistock Goose Fair is held on the second Wednesday of October. Fairground rides run all week and on fair day the town comes alive with stalls and side shows, attracting thousands of visitors.
Nearby, between the River Tavy and the canal, Te Meadows are situated. Tis beautiful and peaceful park is a tranquil haven with attractive walks and a children’s play area. churches, and dog shows where you and your dog join in the fun. Toward Okehampton on the A386 there is the Cholwell Riding Stables next to the ‘Wheal Betsy’ Silver Lead mine.
The family-run CHOLWELL RIDING
STABLES has been providing escorted rides and riding lessons on Dartmoor for nearly forty years. Perfectly located for rides straight out onto Dartmoor with no need for any road work. Denham Bridge - a beauty spot downstream of Tavistock, where the Rivers Tavy and Walkham join, there are woods at Double Waters and there is an old packhorse bridge.
Lopwell Dam - where the River Tavy meets the sea, a pleasant spot for a stroll or a picnic.
Lydford Gorge - take a walk here to see the White Lady Waterfall and the beautiful flora.
Morwellham Quay - a historic port, village, copper mine and railway.

Horrabridge - on the Drakes Cycle Trail and the River Walkham banks, ideal for walking, riding, cycling, fishing and river swimming. Tere are B&B venues, a campsite and several pubs and shops.
Yelverton Another gateway to Dartmoor and one of the best bases for touring from, with good road links to Plymouth and Tavistock. Yelerton is the centre for many activities on Dartmoor, like the Clearbrook Wild Child science day. Visit the Rock Inn in the square for detailed event information. Nearby attractions include Buckland Abbey and Te Garden House at Buckland Monachorum.

Shaugh Prior - there is the beauty spot of Plym Valley with Shaugh Prior Bridge and Plymvalley Woods, the cycle Route 27 goes through the woods.
