December 2017 East Cork Soccer Notes Midleton F.C.

Msl Prem Div Result

Midleton 5-2 Everton Goalscorers : Jake He-

garty , James Leahy, Kevin Murray, Kelvin Kruschel, OG

Character in abun-

dance tonight, after two cup exits and good per- formances in both ,to no reward, tonight was always going to be hard- er mentally, after going a goal down and probably deserved after

a sloppy

start on 30min, Midleton gained a slice of luck from a OG from Everton to lev- el proceedings. Jake He- garty gave Midleton the lead soon after through a great goal and James Le- ahy tagged on a third just before half time after a

more impressive 15min to give Midleton a two goal cushion for next 45min. Midleton knew there was more in them and showed that in the 2nd

half,

and really picked up the flow of the game, Kevin Murray added a fourth with a towering header from a set piece and the man of match Kelvin Kruschel rounded off the night with a magnificent solo goal to add a 5th

and

a great 3pts for Midleton . Well done lads great re-

sult.

Tadgh Sullivan Carrigtwohill travelled

the short distance to Mid- leton for the first round of the Blackwater Cup on a crisp Sunday morning. A bright start to the game saw both defences on top

Carrigtwohill United AFC

with clear cut chances at a premium. As half time approached Carrigtwohill started to get on top in midfield but had no goals to show for their effort and it was nil nil at half-time The second half started

with Carrigtwohill cre- ating the better chances but failing to convert any and it was Midleton who took the lead after a cor- ner was not dealt

properly. One goal down against the run of play. In fairness the Carrigtwohill lads responded in brilliant fashion and showed their growing maturity and

game play when man of the match Tadgh Sulli- van took up the ball the right wing and drove at the Midleton defence to unleash a great shot which beat the keeper. One all.As hard as the

both teams tried the game ended in a time

players to dig deep and the Carrigtwohill

now required the lads were

not found wanting. All the effort put in was rewarded when with 2 minutes left when midfielder Cian Lee lobbed the goalie to seal a well deserved win.
