Seandun Mystery Destination Finally Revealed

The annual Seandun

Christmas Mystery Tour took place last Saturday night 9 December. Macra members from all corners of the

Seandun region

boarded buses at a variety of different locations with no inkling as to where they were going or how long the journey would take! When the buses eventually came to a stop the destination was revealed to be Nolan’s Bar in Rosscarbery. Over 70 Macra members trav- elled on the night and were treated to finger food, a DJ and even a visit from the man himself Santa Clause! It was the last Seandun so- cial event of 2017 and Ma-

cra members certainly got into the festive spirit with a fine selection of Christmas jumpers on display on the night! Seandun Macra na

Feirme will host an Agri- cultural Talk on Succes- sion: Sole Trade vs Ltd on December 20th

in the

Viaduct Inn commencing at 7:30pm. Speakers on the night will be Kieran Coughlan from Coughlan Accounting & Taxation Services Ltd, Belgooly and Michael O’ Dowd from O’ Dowd Solicitors in Glan- mire. All welcome! Contact seandun.seandunmacra. macra@gmail.com further information.

for Glanmire Christmas Quiz- A Roaring Success The start of December

marked our annual Christ- mas Quiz in the Stirrup Bar, White’s Cross. This is always a great night. This year proved no different as we had a huge turnout. The stage was set by Ka- ren Cashman who acted as MC for the night and did a fantastic job. This year, the proceeds

went to the Dunmanway Oncology Unit in the CUH. We choose this charity as it is close to all of our hearts and our secre- tary Will Daly touched the hearts of the crowd with his brave speech about cancer and portrayed the great work that this unit does. Our aim was to raise funds for the Dunmanway

Day Unit so that its users of its services can be made more comfortable when receiving treatment. Un- fortunately most people know someone who has cancer, some people have sadly lost their life to the disease but with improved treatments, many more are now surviving cancer. The Dunmanway Day Unit was created predominately for the use of outpatients, meaning that it allows us- ers of the service to come in get treatment, and ide- ally go home. The idea of outpatient units like the Dunmanway Day Unit is to allow the users to get their

treatment without

the need to be admitted for overnight care. The Dun-

manway Day Unit there- fore provides an excellent service while allowing end users to maintain a level of normality in their lives. Thanks to everyone who

showed up on the night and helped to make this night a success. We were delighted to have raised over €2,300. There were plenty of games and craic to be had and the crowd were in great form. Well done to everyone who helped out and supported us.

This was a busy week for

us as we also took part in the Cork County Round of Capers in Iniscarra Community Hall.

Hav-

ing made it through to the semi finals in January, the

Cork County Round gave us a chance to

practice

our performance on stage. With six teams participat- ing on the night, it was a great chance for us to see the

sports night also continues this Tuesday

had and we were delighted to receive a prize on the night for best sketch which comprised of Will Daly, Kevin Smiddy and Cathal Cashman. We were blown away by the level of talent on the night with Clonak- ilty taking home first prize. We have plenty more

events to look forward to in the coming week with our Christmas party be- ing held next
