Leahy’s Open Farm Support Irish Guide Dogs With Christmas Campaign
by JORDAN MCCARTHY
Leahy’s Open Farm
have been helping out the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind each and every Christmas for the past six years – and this year is no different. The team at the Dung-
ourney-based facility are again raising funds for the charity, through their 2017 Christmas cam- paign. This time of year is a particularly busy one for all at Leahy’s - with the visit of Santa Claus - but, they have also been
actively spreading their message of festive good- will; to support those in need. Speaking to the East
Cork Journal, Te- resa Leahy of Leahy’s Open Farm said; ‘‘we have been doing this for at least six years now, if not more. We know John (Shanahan)
well we know that the Irish
Guide Dogs for the Blind need funding. John is in and out here and we have collection boxes around the place. There are signs up as well, encouraging visitors
to support the and
charity. We will have an official presentation after Christmas. We are doing the Christmas appeal with around six years but I think we actually have a Guide Dogs’ collection box here with over fifteen years.’’ John Shanahan from Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind added; ‘‘Leahy’s Open Farm and Irish Guide Dogs are proudly linked together. Donal Leahy and his wife Te- resa always support us every Christmas.’’ Irish Guide Dogs is Ireland’s national char-
ity dedicated to helping people who are visual- ly impaired. They also help children with au- tism. The charity’s aim is to enable people
to
lead better lives, become more
independent and
more mobile. You can find the organisation’s Headquarters and Train- ing Centre
located on
the Model Farm Road in Cork. More information on how to support Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind is available
