MS FRAM 2 departures: April and October 2018
Coastal Gems of America
Visit Miami, Charleston, New York, and Boston, enjoy the small town charm of Maine, and sail nearly 1,400 nautical miles of culture, history, and natural beauty.
DAY 1: Beaches and Art Deco Miami is known for glamour, Art Deco and spectacular beaches. The city resonates with vibes from Latin America, the Caribbean, Asia and Europe. And the food! Experience Miami before embarking on MS Fram to sail north along the American coast.
DAY 2: Lectures and Relaxing As we sail north, join our lecture programme covering topics related to where we sail, as well as about climate change and environ- mental challenges confronting the world’s oceans.
DAY 3: The Old South Charleston, South Carolina, overflows with history. Stand on the site where the first shot was fired in the Civil War and visit the only surviving urban plantation of Charleston where you get a glimpse into antebellum life.
DAY 4: Unwind at Sea A day at sea means joining the lectures, enjoying the ships facilities, or relaxing on deck.
DAY 5-6: The Big Apple The Statue of Liberty was the first sight many immigrants saw when coming to America. We sail past this icon of freedom on our way into New York City. Cross the Brooklyn Bridge by foot, visit Little Italy, see Times Square and the Empire State Building.
DAY 7: The Ocean State Founded in 1639, Newport, Rhode Island is considered a shining gem in the coastal crown of New England.
DAY 8: Cradle of Liberty Boston is described as one large outdoor museum. Walk the Freedom Trail and feel the city’s revolutionary spirit and history. Visit Boston Common, Bunker Hill Monument and Harvard, the oldest university in the U.S.
DAY 9-11: Rockland, Bucksport, Bar Harbor Continuing north, we reach a beautiful Maine coastal town: Rockland, Bucksport, or Bar Harbor on Penobscot Bay.
DAY 12: Exploration Day Our experienced captains, along with expe- dition leaders and local experts, will create unique stops in destinations normal cruise ships are not able to deliver. These might be special landing sites to go for walks and launch our kayaks, or community visits, or perhaps stops to watch wildlife.
DAY 13: Urban Centre and Seacoast Modern Halifax was founded in 1749. Life here revolves around the sea. Halifax is Atlantic Canada’s entertainment and cultural capital, merging old and new worlds. Explore the city before you fly home.
