DAY 1: Departure Valparaíso. The expedition starts in the colourful and poetic city of Valparaíso.

DAY 2: Sunsets and Telescopes We sail into La Serena, one of the oldest cities in Chile. Its remarka- bly clear skies make it home to the world’s largest concentration of astronomical observatories.


DAY 3-4: Sailing Along the Chilean Coast We start our lecture programme.


DAY 5: Adventure and Archaeology Arica is blessed with a warm and sunny climate year round. Explore the city, visit archaeological sites or go to nearby Lauca National Park.


DAY 6: Treat Yourself Enjoy another day at sea.


DAY 7: Nazca Lines We arrive at the gateway to the mysterious Nazca Lines and geoglyphs, created between 500 B.C. and 500 A.D. and among archaeology’s greatest enigmas.

DAY 8: “City of Kings” Enjoy a full day exploring Lima, “The City of Kings”. Visit mu- seums and archaeological high- lights, and taste Peruvian cuisine.


DAY 9: Wildlife Spotting Watch for dolphins as we cruise north along the coast of Peru.


DAY 15: Adventure Day Come ashore at Golfito, where you can surf and swim at nearby beaches or visit Piedras Blancas National Park to see rainforest, waterfalls, monkeys, bats, and exotic birds.


DAY 16: End of the Expedition The adventure ends in Puntarenas, Costa Rica.

DAY 10: Moon Worshippers Trujillo sits on the edge of the Andean foothills and is near the centre of the ancient Chimú cul- ture (700–1400 A.D.). Visit Chan Chan (sun-sun), a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site, and the Temples of the Sun and Moon.


DAY 11: Poolside View The ship has a pool and two Jacuzzis on the top deck. Enjoy the view from the water, or find a dry, comfortable spot at Explorer Bar.


DAY 12: Panama Hats Manta, Ecuador, is a bustling and prosperous port town. Visit nearby Montecristi, where real Panama hats are made.
