DAY 1: “Jewel of the Pacific” The expedition starts in the colourful city of Valparaíso. Visit the UNESCO-listed Historic Quarter before boarding MS Roald Amundsen.


DAY 2: Sunsets and Telescopes La Serena´s remarkably clear night skies make it home to the world´s largest concentration of astronomical observatories.


DAY 3-4: Sailing Along the Chilean Coast We start our lecture programme.


DAY 5: Adventure and Archaeology Warm and sunny Arica is a lovely base for visiting archaeological sites or touring Lauca National Park.


DAY 6: Treat Yourself Enjoy another relaxing day at sea.


DAY 7: Nazca Lines - An Archaeo- logical Mystery Experience the mysterious Nazca Lines and geoglyphs, carved out between 500 B.C. and 500 A.D.

DAY 8: Amazing Incas Arrive in Callao and transfer to the airport of Lima from where you fly to Cusco to visit the amazing Incan fortress Sacsayhuamán.

DAY 9: Incan Empire Highlights We tour Ollantaytambo, site of the Incas’ greatest victory against the Spanish. We then board the train to legendary Machu Picchu to explore the ruins of the mystical lost city.


DAY 10: Centre of the Inca Empire Return to Cusco, once the centre of the Inca Empire. Transfer to the airport for your flight to Lima and spend the night at a hotel.


DAY 11: Flying Back Home Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before you fly home.
