DAY 1: Exciting and Diverse Welcome to Santiago, the capital of Chile.

DAY 2: Expedition Embarkation Fly to Punta Arenas and board the MS Roald Amundsen.

DAY 3: Astounding Chilean Fjords Cruise through the Beagle Channel, with its fords and high mountains plunging straight into the sea.

DAY 4-5: Cape Horn and Drake Passage At 56 degrees south, Cape Horn is the southernmost point in South America. Ships once passed here to get from one side of the Americas to the other. We will try to land on Cape Horn, conditions permitting. We then cross the infamous Drake Passage, and excitement builds as we approach the great wilderness of the White Continent. The first signs may be floating ice, or penguins in the water.

DAY 6-12: Impossible to Describe Someone once said, “If you can describe Antarctica with words, you´ve probably never been there.” The landmass of Antarctica holds some 90 % of the world’s ice, and in winter, sea ice doubles the continent’s size. In summer, Antarctica is a breeding ground for millions of penguins, whales and seals. The Antarctic

Treaty dedicates Antarctica to peace, science and tourism. No human activity is allowed to alter the perfect natural balance. We leave nothing but footprints and take nothing but pictures! Unpredictable weather, wind and ice challenges may change landings and force re-routings, but we also take advantage of the often ideal conditions – spending hours ashore, kayaking, hiking or cruising amongst huge pods of whales.

DAY 13: History and Wildlife After exploring Antarctica, we sail to The Falkland Islands. Our lecture series at sea focuses on the islands´ dramatic history and diverse wildlife.

DAY 14-16: Edge of Antarctica After Antarctica, it may seem surreal to visit a town resembling England, with red phone booths, buses and pubs. Roam the streets of the Falkland Islands capital, Stanley, or join an excursion to explore wilderness and wildlife.

DAY 17: Magellan Strait As we complete the loop of the Magellan Strait, we recap everything we have experienced during the expedition.

DAY 18: End of the Expedition We arrive in Punta Arenas in the morning for the flight back to Santiago.
