Magical darkness, northern lights

WINTER: 01.01.-14.02./01.12.-31.12.2017 During the Polar night, Longyearbyen becomes a magical place lit by twink ling stars and the Aurora Borealis. At this time of year the long hours of darkness provide you an even greater chance of experiencing the Northern Lights. In February, the days become lighter, and rays of sunlight colour mountain tops in pastel hues. Inside, you can enjoy traditional food and drinks or do some tax-free shopping. Outside, beautiful scenery and exotic activities await you.

Dog Sledding to an Ice Cave You will be driven to the dog yard approximately 12km outside of Longyearbyen. Each sled will take two guests. Enjoy the ride as a passenger with the opportunity to try mushing yourself. We will stop at a beautiful ice cave hidden within a glacier, and explore the cave while the dogs rest. During the summer, the cave is a bubbling meltwater river, and you will be able to see how the water has cut a deep path through the ancient ice, leaving beautiful formations. As we continue, the dogs run effortlessly downhill. During the last stage, before we arrive back at the dog yard, we will hold a steady pace. Enjoy the untouched wilderness and let all of the your experiences sink in. FROM£236pp* *The price includes a guided dog sledding tour incl. briefing, warm outer clothing, necessary safety equipment, lunch and transport to/from your hotel. 15.02.-17.05.2017 The `light winter´ is high season in Spitsbergen and the scenery is magnificent. The sun is over the horizon, and on March 8 each year the sun shines into Longyearbyen for the first time since the autumn. This period allows you to experience the majestic archipelago during the

light days, and activities include dog-sledding adventures and a unique ice-caving trip where you can wander through the heart of a glacier. The long days allow you to experience the best of Arctic Svalbard, with its frozen fords and snow-covered mountain ranges. Remember to look out for the local fauna, including the Svalbard reindeer, polar fox and perhaps even the King of the Arctic – the polar bear.

Snowmobile Safari Pyramiden After being fully briefed and equipped, we head out of Longyearbyen, passing the magnificent Tempel Mountain and the Nordenskiöld glacier. Cross the frozen fords of Spitsbergen and visit the abandoned Russian town of Pyramiden. This was previously the largest settlement on Svalbard with around 1,500 inhabitants.
