DAY 2: Belém/Embarkation Breakfast at your hotel. The morning is at leisure until the start of your guided sightsee- ing tour in Belém. Visit the Ver-o-Peso Market, where you find handicrafts, incl. charms made by the practitioners of Macumba (Brazil’s ver- sion of voodoo), tropical fruits, vegetables and fish. Explore Forte do Castelo, a fortress built by the Portuguese in the 17th century. Take a walk in the Emilio Goeldi Zoo & Botanic Park, featuring more than 1,500 samples of plants species and more than 1,600 regional fruits (in season). The tour will end at the pier well before time of embarkation. San José/Puntarenas
San José City break and Carara National Park Extend your stay in Costa Rica and add one night in the capital San José to explore the city on your own. Experience the Carara National Park and join a Jungle River Cruise on the way from Puntarenas to San José.
DAY 1: San José Individual arrival at hotel in San José. Time at leisure or get to know to the highlights of San José during an optional city tour in the after- noon. Dinner on your own and overnight.
DAY 2: San José - Puntarenas/Embarkation Breakfast and time at leisure until the transfer from the hotel to Puntarenas for embarkation. On the way, visit the Carara National Park. A boat tour offers the opportunity to observe one of the largest populations of American croco dile in America, and discover the mangrove trees teem- ing with life. Lunch will be served afterwards.
