Franchise Focus Breaking the mould
SureCare shakes up its franchise model INVESTMENT LEVEL: £7,000-£28,000
Gary Ferrer L
eading care company SureCare has seen a signifi cant increase in enquiries since introducing the UK’s fi rst micro franchises. The micro
franchises, called SureCare Local, enable
people to buy their own franchise from just £7,000, instead of the £28,000 for a full SureCare franchise. While the micro franchises provide those able to invest a smaller sum with an exciting opportunity to become their own boss, they also offer those taking out full franchises the chance to generate signifi cant additional income. Any full franchisee will have a licence to operate up to four micro franchises in their territory, delivering additional revenue and the benefi t of having colleagues on the ground fi nding new clients and opportunities and building new networks. The rise in enquiries SureCare receive is fuelled partly by continuing cutbacks in local authority services, with many council care managers being made redundant or simply growing disenchanted with their working environment. Many of these people are perfect candidates to become franchisees. They are typically aged 40-55, have management experience, suffi cient funds
to, at the very least, invest in a micro franchise, know their local area well and already have a strong network. Add to this the desire to become their own boss and make a difference within their community and you have the ideal franchisee profi le. Other enquiries have ranged from individuals in their 20s looking for entrepreneurial opportunities in a tough job market to former armed forces’ members. Gary Farrer, managing director of
SureCare, says: “Becoming your own boss with a micro franchise is now affordable to many more and for those able to invest in a full franchise, we are providing the chance to recoup their investment by having up to four micro franchises in their territory.” n

Elderly Care Children

Amrit Dhaliwal, 26, was drawn to starting a SureCare franchise after seeing fi rst-hand how vulnerable elderly people can be. He explains: “I don’t come
from a care background but I became interested in running a business in this sector after caring for my grandfather.
“I like the ethos of SureCare, which is all about providing clients with the highest possible quality of care. It allows me to run my own successful business while also giving back to the community.” Amrit is one of SureCare’s youngest franchisees. He says: “I was always keen to run my own business and the sales and marketing skills I learnt from my previous jobs continue to help me massively. “Getting into care with a franchise is easier than starting up alone. It’s reassuring to know that support is there if I need help with compliance issues and paperwork. That frees up time to focus on quality care.

“Making enough time for each individual is incredibly important and can have a tremendous impact on the quality of their care. You might be the only person they see that day and if you can be relaxed, calm, interested and smile you can light up their life.” n
