Kare Plus expansion was the next natural step for former accountant

INVESTMENT LEVEL: £40,000 R

ecognising the trend towards growth in the elderly care sector, chartered accountant Samir Shah and his wife Sonal, invested in a care home in Hertfordshire

some years ago – a facility that they went on to expand from 19 to 44 beds. According to Samir, the next logical step was to offer domiciliary care services, but the couple felt daunted by the necessary paperwork and compliance requirements. “We realised that providing a range of

different care services was not something we felt able to do alone, so we set about identifying a framework within which we could grow. In particular, we researched the opportunities offered by different care franchises and, ultimately, we opted to join Kare Plus. The management team struck us as both professional and dynamic – we

particularly liked the fact that they offered nursing staff solutions to hospitals as well as domiciliary services, with their sights on introducing assisted living services in the near future.”

Samir and Sonal – an HR specialist – launched their Kare Plus franchise in Luton earlier this year, following a comprehensive training programme and ongoing support. Their business is going so well that, after only a matter of months, they have invested in a second territory and are currently looking for offices. “Harrow is our home, so we know

the area well,” Samir explains. “We have already recruited a manager who used to work in the domiciliary care sector around here and has great local connections with clients and in the medical sector that, in combination with Sonal’s recruitment skills, will serve us really well. We’re very excited

about our expansion and enjoying the new challenge. As a former accountant, I’ve done my sums and, based on our experience so far, we’re very confident that there is massive potential with Kare Plus to build a really profitable business!” n
