A double-pitch chain drive is similar to a standard chain, except that the link plates have twice the pitch. Tey are used in place of standard roller chains when speeds are low and loads are relatively light or on low-speed applications with long spans to reduce the chain weight. Silent (morse or inverted tooth) chains
A silent chain is designed for use on high-speed drives. It consists of a series of link-plates (straight or curved face) assembled on pin connectors.
