Q: What is a franchisor looking for in a new franchisee?

own before. If you’re used to teamwork, the transition to working solo can be a little daunting. One of our former safety inspection engineers worked in a factory all his life before joining gas-elec, and struggled with this; he felt unable to renew his franchise agreement when it expired. Most of them, though, love the freedom and independence!


Whatever franchise you choose, you’ll automatically fi nd yourself in a sales role, so any franchisor will want to know how you’ll promote and grow your business. They may ask how your previous boss would describe you, or how you’d describe yourself.


At any meeting with a potential franchisor you should show you’ve done your homework on the company, and ask lots of questions. Demonstrate a ‘can do’ attitude. After all, if you join them you’ll be representing their company and they’ll want to know what positive attributes you can bring to the business.
