Some of the issues at BEA have clearly come from one of the very strengths of the Temenos package. Chow summed it up well: 'It is more flexible but it is also more fragile, so you need a very good pair of hands'. TheModel Bank theory is meant to address this but could also be viewed as somewhat perverse, actually negating one of the strengths of the system, particularly in the hands of a team that does not welcome user changes. The likelihood is that subsequent takers of this concept will benefit from the lessons learnt from the BEA project and, ultimately, although the path was pretty rocky at times, BEA has more or less reached its destination.
