problems with the onsite testing. The process of training users was conducted without mishap. It was done by a combination of process reviews, prototype walk-throughs and UAT, performed with a hands-on 'proof of concept' type approach. That the training of users was straightforward is put down to a 'very easy acceptance path with the business-user community. The system is user- friendly and intuitive, with easy to follow logic and workflow', in the words of Brent.
Results and reflections
The implementation was completed within budget, and the bank has come across no problems so far. Brent stated that, if given the chance to try again, he would change nothing. Brent believed the system was 'extremely' good value for money, time and effort (a business case had been constructed prior to the selection phase), and was 'extremely' happy with the work, the results, and with the vendor's added-value contributions. The bank intended to continue to work with Infrasoft Technologies in future, and Brent told IBS that there were 'many' plans for the delivery of global business solutions for the bank. Follow-on modules included AML, HR and payroll, back-office/administration workflow, pre-acquisition deal structuring, post-acquisition and project management, and wealth management.
In terms of advice to other banks embarking on similar projects, Brent stated: 'Know your vendor, understand its approach and gauge its willingness to accommodate and adapt to your particular environment. The vendor's understanding of your business model and key drivers, and its ability to work with you as one team and deliver rapid, secure and robust results, is, in our view, paramount.'
