The bank has been building an infrastructure to last it for at least the next seven to ten years, as Nijasure pointed out, so choosing the right partners and applications was important, so too implementing a robust overall architecture. It needs to ensure that it can readily replace any aspect of its new environment and that it is not merely creating another set-up that over time will become complicated and inflexible.
Here is a bank which, as with a fairly small but increasing number of others, has decided that true bank-wide progress will come about not through the replacement of one application with another but through a much broader, coordinated transformation, that takes in a wide array of applications, networks, hardware, process change and, last but not least, people. Speaking in October 2011, by which time all branches were on the core system, Nijasure concluded that the key to success was 'a superior user team' and discussion of issues upfront. 'Bergama Kita Bisa' as they say in Indonesia, he concluded: 'Together we can!'.
