THE CARIBBEAN - THE BAHAMAS


Resorts World Bimini Bahamas is a huge 750 acre beachfront resort located on the border between the Gulf Stream and Great Bahama Bank on the Bimini island, a small island just 50 miles off the coast of Miami. It was opened in July 2013 by Genting in partnership with RAV Bahamas


within 1,000 miles of the Bahamas making it a very lucrative market for the casino industry. In 2014 the Bahamas saw around $146m in revenues from its gaming industry with annual revenues per casino of $48.6m


Atlantis is located on Paradise Island. It began back in 1994 when Sol Kerzner at Sun International bought Resorts International from Merv Griffin. Te resort, once very popular, was declining but Kerzner saw its potential and began to transform the resort.


It is set on a beautiful lush tropical island with a two mile white sandy beach. At the time tourism was on the decline in the Bahamas and unemployment rates were high. But between 1994 and 1998 Kerzner created the mythical city of Atlantis from the ground up spending more than $800m in the process.


It is a huge project and holds the worlds largest open air marine environment, home to 50,000 sea creatures, lagoons and waterfalls and the Mayan Temple waterslide complex. Tere are 11 swimming pools and a $15m marina with villas

and condos, 21 restaurants and 19 bars. In 1998 the 1,200 room Royal Tower opened which was to house the Caribbean’s largest casino.


In 2007 another phase of development began with a $1bn project to add various other elements to the resort including a 600 room resort called Cove Atlantis; a 497 key condo- hotel called the Reef Atlantis; a 14 acre dolphin habitat called Dolphin Cay; a 63 acre waterpark called Aquaventure; a nightclub called Aura, 10,000 sq.ft of conference facilities and the 30,000 sq.ft Mandara Spa.


Te casino links the towers and spans the seven acre lagoon and with walled glass brings the outdoors inside. It is equipped with a player tracking system so guests can insert their room key into any slot or table game to play and earn promotional giveaways.


Tere are 85 tables including Baccarat, Texas Hold ‘Em, Let it Ride, Craps, Roulette and Blackjack and over 700 slots. It also houses the Atlantis Race and Sports Book, powered by CG Technology, offering Las Vegas style race and


sports book with LED Video Wall spanning 67 feet with over 500sq.ft of viewing. Tere are 20 simultaneous video feeds, 44 betting stations and six VIP betting stations. Players can also download the mobile sports app on the property.


Treasure Bay casino is located on the Grand Bahama island on the stretch of private coastline at the Grand Lucayan Resort. Te resort is an AAA four diamond resort with 740 guest rooms and suites plus 15 restaurants and bars. Tere are also 478 rooms available at the Reef Village Resort with another four restaurants and kid friendly camp so is a family favourite. Tere is a retail outlet and golf course, spa and fitness centre.


Te casino is open daily and offers 215 slots with traditional reel machines and video reel games plus there are various table games from Blackjack, Roulette, Craps and Poker. Tis resort was hit by the hurricane last year and only remains partly open.
