US courts allow Cowlitz tribe to open Ilani Casino

Te Cowlitz Indian Tribe has been given permission to open a $510m casino in La Center in southwestern Washington state near the border with Oregon following a decision by the US Supreme Court.
Te Cowlitz Tribe has been working to bring a casino to its tribal land for several years and has faced stiff opposition from several groups. Te US Supreme Court denied a petition to review a lower court decision that upheld the
US Department of Interior's authority to take land into trust on behalf of the tribe, rebuffing a series of legal challenges filed by tribal casino opponents. Te 360,000sq.ft. Ilani Casino Resort opened its doors at the end of April.
Te Clark County casino includes a gaming floor, with 75 table games and 1,200 slots alongside a concert hall and 15 restaurants, bars and retail stores.
Cowlitz tribal Chairman William Iyall said: “Tis is a triumphant moment for Te Cowlitz Tribe because it marks the end of a 160-year journey back to our homeland, and the beginning of a new journey.”

New Jersey's legal online casinos hauled in enough gaming revenue to post another banner month in March, and that helped the industry hit some crucial milestones — including $80m in total tax revenue.
Te New Jersey Monthly Internet Gross Revenue Report, which was released Wednesday by the state's Division of Gaming Enforcement, showed that legal online casinos generated a record $21.7m in gross revenue in March. Tat is the first month revenue has exceeded $20m and it pushes New Jersey past $536.5m in total revenue since the state legalized online casino games and poker in 2013.
In addition to tax revenue, the key milestones hit include three New Jersey legal online casinos passing significant revenue marks including Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa surpassing $150m since its launch, Tropicana Casino & Resort crossing $100m in total revenue and Resorts Digital Gaming passing the $50m mark.
"Nearly three-and-a-half years since its inception, the train that is the New Jersey online gambling industry continues to gather steam," said Robert DellaFave, senior analyst for
PlayNJ.com.
Te vast majority of the revenue generated online is from new customers, rather than existing customers simply shifting their spend online. Executives from Borgata, Caesars Interactive Entertainment, and Golden Nugget Atlantic City have all confirmed in statements that more than 80 percent of their online customers are new to their casinos.
"Any fears that land-based gamblers are trading in their chips and slot pulls for their online equivalents are misguided," DellaFave said. "New Jersey online gambling revenue largely comes from players that have never set foot inside an Atlantic City casino. Online gambling is a critical component of Atlantic City's revitalisation efforts."

AGS has submitted a draft registration statement on Form S-1 to the United States Securities and Exchange Commission relating to a potential IPO. Te Las Vegas based company has its roots in the Class II, Native American market although it has recently expanded its product lines to include top performing slot games for the Class III commercial marketplace, as well as live felt table games and mobile gaming. Te number of shares to be offered and the price range for the offering have not been determined. Te IPO is expected to commence after the SEC completes its review process, subject to market conditions. AGS intends to list its common stock under the ticker symbol AGS. Te group recently bought slot manufacturer Cadillac Jack and RocketPlay taking it into the mobile gaming segment. Increased slot titles and jurisdictional licenses have made AGS the second largest supplier of Class II games in the world.
