MGM Resorts has made a huge move into eSports teaming up with Allied Esports, owner of a network of esports venues, and Esports Arena to develop a new dedicated esports venue at its Luxor Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Te new Esports Arena Las Vegas, scheduled to open in early 2018, will become the first permanent esports venue on Te Strip and will be the center of Allied Esports' growing global network of esports properties spanning North America, Europe and China.
Esports Arena Las Vegas will combine the best of interactive entertainment and Las Vegas nightlife, and become the global epicenter for esports experiences. With design and programming contributions from Allied Esports' enterprises around the world, its North American arm Esports Arena will take the lead in bringing the Las Vegas concept to life. Naming rights opportunities for Esports Arena Las Vegas are also being considered.

Evolution Gaming is to build a new state-of-the-art Live Casino studio in the Metro Vancouver area of British Columbia, its first outside of Europe. Te New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement confirmed that gross operating profits in the fourth quarter reached $118.1m up from $99.8m in 2015, according to figures from the state. Gross operating profits for the year as a whole increased by 7.3 per cent to $587.4m. Gross Gaming Revenue included internet revenues came in at $3.71bn in 2016 compared to $3.7bn in 2015. At its peak Atlantic City had 12 casinos but the long suffering downturn has seen five venues close. Te big change last year for the remaining casinos was the closure of the Taj Mahal. Gross gaming revenue for 2016 came in at $2.5m, an increase of nearly one per cent over 2015. Colin Mansfield of Fitch Ratings said of the Taj Mahal gambling spend: “Most of that has gone back into the market. Properties are using the same amount of people and having more business come in.”

US – Scientific Games has bought mobile and social game company Spicerack Media. The addition of Spicerack, creator of the Bingo Showdown social bingo game app, complements Scientific Games' impressive stable of social casino games and mobile offerings. The acquisition will be immediately accretive to earnings and cash flow. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
