9th Ariana TV Awards Dazzles with Star Performers


T


he Ariana Television Network’s (ATN), 9th Annual ATN Awards took place at the Istana Budaya


(Palace of Culture) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on the 23 February 2015. The ATN Awards recognize and celebrate Afghan music and performing arts while encouraging unity among the global Afghan community through the preservation of Afghanistan’s cultural heritage.


Highlighted by Award winning Afghan singer, composer and peace and human rights ambassador, Farhad Darya, ATN welcomed the very best male and female Afghan performing artists of 2014, including Sediq Shubab, Valy Hedjazi, Shafiq Mureed, Naghma, Ghezaal Enayat, Mozhdah Jamalzadah, and Arezo Nikbin.


Farhad Darya serves as the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) National Goodwill Ambassador for


Afghanistan and is involved in numerous charitable organizations. He has earned affection for not only his music but also his sense of patriotism. He has a fan base not only in Afghanistan but also in different parts of Central Asia, and Tajikistan. Darya sings in various languages including Persian, Pashto, Uzbek, English and Urdu.


In addition to the annual Lifetime Achievement, Sitara-e-Hunar, and Mardumi awards, the Annual ATN® Awards introduced a new honour in Malaysia: the Jawedana Hai Moseqi award. This new award celebrates a performer’s legacy achievement to the Afghan arts scene.


“While this ceremony honoured the most popular Afghan artists and most exciting contributions to Afghanistan’s cultural development over the past twelve months,” said Ehsan Bayat, Chairman of the Ariana Television


Network, and added “the ATN Awards are much more than an annual celebration. These achievements are integral to the long-term process of preserving and enhancing Afghanistan’s cultural heritage. All the award candidates, both the winners and nominees, are responsible for making possible this important contribution to Afghans worldwide.”


The Annual ATN Awards were aired in Afghanistan and on ATN’s international feeds.


We recall that Ariana Television and Radio Ariana 93.5 (ATN) are the largest private media channels in Afghanistan, covering 33 of 34 provinces and reaching over 20,000,000 Afghans. Focusing on information, content and entertainment, ATN programming places particular emphasis on education, health, children’s programming, women’s and world issues.
