SPECTRUM is the Biggest Broadcasters’ Asset


chaired the Industry Debate where five panelists expressed their views on whether Spectrum is essential for Broadcasting. Spectrum in lay terms is the right and the space or a range to broadcast within a portion of frequency parameters in a given geographical area. A Broadcasting License generally includes restrictions, which vary from band to band.

Martyn Horspool from GatesAir, USA said that Spectrum facilitates his organisation business activities. The company provides technological products bearing in mind that digital transition continues worldwide. Content must reach a maximum audience but delivery of audio and video content must be at the same time cost-effective. He thinks that the spectrum is a technical as well as a social issue. He said that listeners and viewers always want to have good signal quality. So, private broadcasters specially, since they are the majority, must plan and watch their networks.
