This program focuses on international and comparative law. In past programs, students have come from as many as 24 different countries. Faculty members also represent several countries. This program provides a unique learning experience including afternoon seminars and excursions.

This 3-credit ABA-approved program introduces law students to European Union business law issues in Brussels and the trade dispute system of the World Trade Organiza- tion in Geneva. Visits to international institu- tions and lectures by leading officials and top international practitioners allow participants to explore international legal careers.

Students study public international, human rights, humanitarian and international IP law, at a very appropriate location- Geneva, the birth place of the international human rights movement, and the European headquarters for the United Nations. The program includes visits to, and briefings at, the key UN and international institutions located in Geneva.

The Summer Programme on the WTO, Inter- national Trade and Development provides participants with a unique opportunity to enter into the analysis and atmosphere of multilateral trade, just a few meters away from the WTO. The programme combines and integrates economic, legal and political analysis of international trade and develop- ment.

The Geneva Summer Program on Internation- al Organizations, Law and Diplomacy offers students an in-depth look at international issues through direct contact with experts on international trade (WTO), intellectual property (WIPO), labor (ILO), and human rights/humanitarian law (UN human rights institutions and ICRC). Students are encour- aged to also enroll in the preceding courses in Washington, DC.

With the globalization of the law and its practice, an understanding of international business, trade, and jurisdiction has become essential for the modern lawyer. Widener’s courses in international and comparative law helps prepare today’s students.
