Hosted by the top-ranked East China Univer- sity of Politics and Law, Willamette’s College of Law Summer Program in Shanghai is a 4-week legal and cultural exchange. High- lights include classes in Chinese law and international transactions, field trips to legal and business centers and discussions with Chinese professors, lawyers and officials. Six hours of ABA-approved credit available. CLE pending.


This program will provide registrants with a broad range of exposure to Chinese law and the practice of law in and with Chinese busi- nesses and institutions. The courses will all be taught in English by outstanding Chinese law professors from the China University of Political Science & Law in Beijing and Fudan University in Shanghai. Internship opportuni- ties will be available after the program.


During this four-week study abroad program, students will learn about the legal system in China and the changes likely to occur because of the international business sector. Already a major economic force, China’s par- ticipation in leading financial organizations such as the World Trade Organization has its beginnings in the Chinese legal system and will ultimately affect that system.

The school seeks to train lawyers to hold a high standard of ethics in all applications of the law. As a result, the school has a strong philosophical and humanistic character. At Rosario’s School of Law students acquire the ability to describe, analyze, evaluate and interpret the various provisions of national and international legal systems. The law school allows for specialization in several areas of law such as International Law and Administrative Law. Spanish proficiency is required.
