This program will give you the opportunity to work on worthwhile projects alongside like-minded interns and passionate staff. You will gain first-hand experience of law and hu- man rights work in practice, gain knowledge about the local legal system, and learn about community involvement. Interns are involved at grass roots level, raising awareness about human rights to a variety of people.
Students enrolled in the South Africa Sum- mer Study Abroad program will earn 6 credits for taking courses in comparative constitu- tional law, comparative criminal justice, and comparative dispute resolution. Students from South Africa will also be enrolled in these courses. As part of this program, stu- dents will travel to the Cape of Good Hope, Robbin Island, Parliament, a local township court, a prison, and other sites.
The Faculty of Law at the University of Pretoria ranks amongst the top law facul- ties in South Africa and is one of the most sought-after law faculties in the country by students and prospective employers. Its curriculum has been developed to ensure an international focus and relevance.
