The CUHK School of Law is uniquely positioned to become a center of research and teaching excellence. With the School of Law’s emphasis on independent research and active, engaged learning, students will develop their intellectual and professional skills and reach their full potential in a caring community of scholars, students, and teach- ers. All law classes are in English.
In this program, students perform a five-week externship followed by a three-week China Study Abroad program. The externship placements are with several well-respected Chinese law firms located in Beijing, Nanjing, Shanghai, and Taipei. Intellectual property and international business are the primary focus of most externships. Students are not required to speak Mandarin.
For an authentic Chinese experience, study in Nanjing, a former capital of China. Students tour historic and cultural sites, learn along- side Chinese students, and listen to lectures by Chinese professors and business leaders. The program includes a tour in Beijing. Legal topics cover Child and Family Law; Business Law; and International Intellectual Property.

This 4-credit ABA-approved summer program in China gives a thorough overview of the legal system of the United States’ second largest trading partner and emphasizes com- mercial and international trade law issues of relevance to lawyers in the global arena. Participants enjoy numerous field trips and cultural tours as well as interaction with Chinese law students.
The course covers essential laws and regula- tions that govern trade and investment with China, one of the fastest growing economies in the world. The faculty of Jiao Tong Univer- sity, as well as practicing lawyers from some of China’s largest international law firms, will share their expertise. The course covers subjects such as China’s legal system, invest- ment, environmental, tax, and labor laws.
