Compelling Environmental Advantages ,

A good example of a sustainable wood product is Accoya®

environmental advantages over slow-growing hardwoods (particularly when unsustainably sourced), woods treated with toxic chemicals, and non-renewable carbon-intensive materials such as plastics, steel and concrete. The wood has already proved its credentials as the material of choice in major developments including a heavy traffic bridge in Holland, as well as new build and refurbishment projects in the housing sector in the UK and overseas. ...searchable archive at www.buildingconstructiondesign.eu

produced by Accsys Technologies. The product holds Cradle to Cradle Gold certification and is a non-toxic, modified wood made from sustainably sourced, fast growing wood species that is highly durable and dimensionally stable. By significantly enhancing the performance of fast-growing and abundantly available certified wood, Accoya®

Ancon TeploTie Wins Product Innovation Award

walls by minimising heat loss through thermal bridging. With a thermal conductivity of just 0.7W/mK, TeploTie is excluded from U-value calculations. This means no additional insulation is required in a cavity wall to compensate for heat loss through these wall ties, minimising valuable wall footprint and providing savings on all associated construction materials. ...searchable archive at www.buildingconstructiondesign.eu Tel: 0114 275 5224 www.ancon.co.uk/LowConductor

Ancon TeploTie has been announced Winner of the Building Product category of the 2010 Self-Build Product Innovation awards. In addition to a number of stainless steel wire wall ties, TeploTie forms part of Ancon’s low thermal conductivity range. These wall ties improve the energy efficiency of masonry cavity

Two-Part Wall Tie for Cellular Clay Blockwork provides compelling

Ancon has developed a Wall Tie to fix traditional brick cladding to an internal leaf of cellular clay blocks with horizontal bed joints of just 1mm. The new Ancon CCB3 is an innovative two- part Wall Tie, suitable for use in new-build houses and commercial developments. The flat inner section is built into the thin bed joints in the cellular clay blockwork. The cavity width is catered for by the length of the outer wire section, which is hooked into the inner section as work on the external leaf progresses. This two step installation process eliminates any risk of injury to site workers from wall ties left protruding from the inner leaf. ...searchable archive at www.buildingconstructiondesign.eu

important. TeploTie wall ties are exclusive to Ancon. They are available in various lengths to suit even the most super-insulated cavities. ...searchable archive at www.buildingconstructiondesign.eu

Ancon TeploTie, the low thermal conductivity wall tie manufactured from basalt fibres, has been used in the first certified Passivhaus to be built using traditional masonry cavity walls. Achieving the energy efficiency levels of Passivhaus relies on the construction of a well-insulated airtight building envelope. Thermal bridges must be removed wherever possible to limit heat loss. When building with cavity walls, this makes Wall Tie selection particularly
