LEDs offer the house builder, designer and consumer more than
just energy savings Beyond the obvious spot lighting market LEDs are so compact that lighting can be integrated easily into architectural features, or even furniture. Cove lighting is just one area where new LED fixtures are leading the way. LEDs are also available in a wide range of colours so the adventurous house builder can consider using more exciting lighting! This dynamic lighting can reflect different moods or be a means to redecorating the walls without paint! Finally what about the familiar ‘bulb’? LEDs can replace these as well but generally only in low Wattage applications. There are viable alternative LED ‘lamps’ that can replace a 25W or 40W GLS in many existing fixtures. However, do check its compatibility with any dimmers.
Conclusion Quality LED lighting is still more expensive to purchase than more
conventional products but, when it comes to the ‘whole life cost’, most LED solutions will be more economical. It really is time to consider investing in LED lighting, but please choose carefully to avoid any disappointment.

Neaco Launch Timber-Effect Handrail and Balustrade System
Neaco have developed an exciting addition to their Spectrum handrail and balustrade range with the launch of Timberline, a wood-effect system which brings the aesthetic virtues of timber without the environmental, hygienic and maintenance concerns associated with it. To the naked eye Timberline’s powder coated reproduction of natural wood grain is indistinguishable from the real thing. Available in a matt or gloss finish, the handrail’s timber style combines superbly with a metallic-finish balustrade, either in aluminium or stainless steel. “Timberline offers the design versatility, durability and high performance that characterize the entire Spectrum range,” said Alan Green. “Its aluminium handrail is warm and comfortable to the touch with the superior smoothness of powder coating. Timberline is non-absorptive - unlike genuine timber handrails, which require ongoing treatment to maintain their aesthetic, prevent absorption of bacteria and control infection.” Neaco’s diverse product portfolio also includes structural glass systems, Juliet and step-out balconies, adaptive bathing facilities and aluminium open grille systems for flooring, screening and solar shading applications.
