Decentralised extract ventilation in the home requires the use of a continuously running extract fan in wet rooms including bathrooms, kitchens, utility rooms and toilets. Johnson & Starley has introduced a new high efficiency heat recovery ventilation unit for domestic applications which is SAP Appendix Q listed. It is rated at up to 90% efficient in heat recovery. The Q-Vent HR 160 meets the demands of housing developers and specifiers for very high efficiency heat recovery and this has been achieved with the inclusion of a counterflow heat exchanger. An installer's commissioning panel allows infinitely variable air extract rates to be set accurately to give close control of air supply and extraction rates on both normal and boost settings.
