Page 85 Aster Intros Integrated DfT Workflow Program

Cesson-Sévigné, France — Aster Technologies is introducing what the company describes as the first tool to provide an integrated workflow for DfT (Design for Test) and test coverage analysis from design through to mainstream production. In addi- tion, Aster is showing its full line of board-level testability and test coverage analysis products. Design for test has become a critical part of

electronics assembly, necessary to ensure the per- formance of complex boards. In the traditional design flow, DfT is a specific step after the layout phase as addressed by tools provided by Siemens, Mentor, Demille and Vayo. The CAD file is loaded and a mechanical analysis is performed in order to identify the physical access for in-circuit or flying probe test. With the staggering board density now facing

the industry, it is important to consider the DfT as part of the complete workflow (not just for probe placement), verifying the testability at different stages in order to ensure the highest level of test quality for the minimum test cost. TestWay Express has been

developed to meet this crucial need for a software tool that will allow users to analyze each stage of the design to production workflow within a single tool. The software fulfills this need

by first working from the schematic, verifying that electrical DfT require- ments are adhered to in order to maximize test coverage, optimize test probe placement according to test strategy definition, estimate test cov- erage, estimate cost modeling, pro- duction yield and TL9000 — initial return rates. Then from the layout, it verifies

mechanical rules, allocates test probes, estimates test coverage based on the real physical access, and gen- erates test programs including an input list and test models for the most popular test platforms. TestWay Express includes CAD

importers supporting schematic net - list, layout, schematic graphics and design or test models for all the design tools used within the industry. This is a key differentiator as other commercial DfT tools work only

Automation Systems Adds Terminal Blocks

Mechanicsburg, PA — Automation Systems Interconnect, Inc. has intro- duced its new expanded offering of gray HMM Series DIN-rail-mounted single-level

feed-through spring

clamp terminal blocks designed to simplify and shorten wiring time. With UL ratings from 15A at

600V up to 76A at 600V, the 4 to 16mm wide screw-less terminal blocks accept wire gauges ranging from 26 to 4 AWG. The HMM Series provides space-

saving design and configuration options such as single and dual inputs and outputs as well as the versatile Easy Bridge jumper system for various configurations including parallel, pole skipping and staggered

circuit connections. Contact: ASI, P.O. Box 1340,
