with CADD Edge Wilsonville, OR — Mentor Graphics Corporation (NASDAQ: MENT) has en- tered into an agreement with CADD Edge, Inc., a distributor of electrical and mechanical design and analysis tools, to provide Mentor Graphics’ electronic systems design products to customers in the eastern USA. These Mentor products provide customers with the world’s leading printed circuit board (PCB) design, high-performance analysis, PCB Design for Manufacturability (DFM) checking, and thermal analysis capabilities. This agreement marks a departure from CADD Edge’s three-year relationship with Altium, also a manufacturer of printed circuit board design software. The software tools from Mentor complement CADD Edge’s existing product suite of software and hardware from SolidWorks, Omnify, Stratasys and this relationship allows

IPC Names Japan Unix as Exclusive

Rep in Japan Tokyo, Japan — Japan Unix Co. has signed a contract with the IPC — Associ- ation Connecting Electronics Industries — that names it the exclusive distrib- utor of IPC products and knowledge to Japanese customers. The first step in this endeavor is distributing IPC standards, IPC-600, IPC-A-610, IPC J-STD- 001 and working to translate the others into Japanese. Japan Unix also hopes to begin a training program for Japanese customers in the near future. The company has already started a micro-soldering training program, and these opportunities will be of great use and advantage to Japanese engineers.
