Select Fabricators RF Shielded Room Closure System Gets Patent
Canandaigua, NY — Select Fabricators, Inc. has in- troduced its newly patented, non-radiating door clo- sure system as part of its complete RF EMI shield- ing design for the company’s Select-A-Shield™ portable test enclosures. The patented (US Pat. No. 8,530,756) double door system focuses on minimiz- ing leakage, improving isolation as well as providing easy entry and exit. All 16 models of the standard Series 100 Select-A-Shield RF shielded portable en- closures as well as custom configured tent systems now include a standard size 40 x 54.5-in. (1 x 1.4m) double door, single magnet door system option, which can be specified to open in or out for ease of entry. A single strip of magnet along three sides of each door is lightweight, with a tight double seal and a lower threshold for improved access. This door sys- tem is an improvement over zippered or conductive hook-and-loop doors which take longer to open, may not be conductive and typically require high- er thresholds. The RF/EMI enclosures are con-
structed with RoHS compliant, dur - able, lightweight, silver/copper/ nickel, NovaSelect™ fabric, the company’s proprietary highly conductive materi- al. This flexible material delivers max- imum attenuation averaging –85dB in shielding effectiveness in the range of 30MHz to 1GHz and an average of –80dB of shielding effectiveness in the range of 1GHz to 10GHz. Made of thermoplastic material,
the flexible magnets can be bent and flexed without affecting their perform- ance and magnetized in a matched pole configuration to provide even alignment when closing the doors.
