Page 101 SEMICON West 2015 Call for Papers
New York, NY — The IEEE Con - ference on Standards for Commun - ications & Networking (CSCN) will hold its first annual event dedicated to the advancement and globalization of the latest industry standards October 28-30, 2015 in Tokyo, Japan. The deadline for original paper submis- sions is May 15, 2015 for high-quality technical and visionary presentations exploring the development, research and implementation of the next wave of standards in communications, net- working and all related disciplines. “Standards are key to the suc-
cess of the communications industry as well as global systems interoper- ability,” says Dr. Tarik Taleb, IEEE CSCN General Chair and Professor at Aalto University in Finland. “IEEE CSCN was designed to close the gap, create greater symmetry and forge relationships between sci- entists and standards experts from academia, industry and differing standardization bodies. The goal is to drive a deeper awareness for the work performed by researchers worldwide, while providing a cooper- ative environment for sharing ideas and fostering bonds among all key
SEMICON Russia to Have New TechARENA Sessions
Moscow, Russia — SEMICON Russia, the premier meeting place of the entire micro-and nanoelectronics industry in Russia, will take place from June 16-18 in Moscow. The SEMICON Russia Exhibition is scheduled for June 17-18 at its tradi- tional location at Expocentre Fair - grounds. Programs will include the Microelectronics Market Confer ence, an Exhibition, TechARENA sessions and presentations. In 2015, SEMICON Russia is
introducing a new program called “TechARENA”, consisting of sessions on Intelligent Systems and Semi - conductor Optoelectronics. On June 17, for the first time, TechARENA will present the “Smart Systems” session, which will provide an overview of global developments, future applications and markets. The session will focus on building suc- cessful cooperation with the Russian companies and funding possibilities. In addition, the “Semiconductor Optoelectronics” session will take place on June 18 at TechARENA in honor of the International Year of Light (YIL2015) and light-based technologies declared by the United Nations. This session will give an overview of the current trends and developments of the semiconductor optoelectronics technologies in Rus - sia. Leading Russian and European experts and specialists will provide the R&D results and implementation projects, and review current and potential collaboration between Russian and other world players in

players. It will also offer a meaning- ful venue for disseminating ‘pre- standards’ technological develop- ments that are likely to drive future and emerging standardization.” Immediately preceding the 94th
IETF meeting that will take place in nearby Yokohama, Japan, IEEE CSCN 2015 will include a three-day, comprehensive agenda focused on the delivery of visionary papers, panels, keynotes and special industry sessions highlighting the broad critical issues impacting telecommunications stan- dards directions. Empha sized will also be the need
to foster closer collaborations across various SDOs resulting in the develop-
ment of more compatible standards and creation of more efficient and effective global communication sys- tems. The specific topic addressed at IEEE CSCN 2015 will include, but not be limited to:
l Enhancements to existing systems
and communication protocols devel- oped by standards bodies such as ITU-T, IEEE, IETF, 3GPP, ETSI, OMA, Broadband Forum, Metro Ethernet Forum, oneM2M, ONF, among others.
l Visionary papers on hot topics,
such as Advanced 5G Radio Access and Network Infrastructure, Converged Access Networks, Optical Networks, Twisted Pair and Coaxial
Access Networks, Software Defined Networks and Services, Network Functions Virtualization (NFV). l
tion and standardization, technology governance of standards, the history of standardization, tools and servic- es related to any or all aspects of the standardization lifecycle, and com- patibility and interoperability, including testing methodologies and certification to standards.
