DO YOU FIND YOUR JOB more complex than before? Have you taken on additional categories to negotiate and manage as part of your travel buying role? Do you find the industry changes across the various sectors that make up business travel more complicated or hard to keep up with? It does feel as though there is lots of change at the moment, but is it any more than usual? ITM has a duty to its members to help them through the

quagmire, and hosts a number of workshops designed to deliver category expertise and knowledge on sector-specific industries. We lead with a series of workshops across the different categories. We kick off first with Hotel Programme Negotiation and Management in London on June 30. This is followed by the Air Programme Management Workshop on September 15 and The Secrets of Sourcing a Travel Management Company and Travel Technology Workshop on September 29. These category workshops cover strategy, requests for proposal (RFPs), best practice, and key pricing and technology drivers. Later in the year, ITM will run a Managing Meetings as part of

the Travel Programme in December, along with a Travel Payment and Expense Workshop where we will look at true integration and the whole end-to-end process. Sector specific events include our Oil, Gas and Marine Forum in

Aberdeen on June 12-13; this precedes with a buyer focus group for the attendees to discuss the travel complexities and nuances of the sector. ITM also runs a number of buyer forums in London, and symposiums held in the regions. The sessions are also one-day educational events that cover a number of hot topics, with New Distribution Capability (NDC) and open booking being the latest debated in March. ITM also hosts a series of buyer focus groups around the country: closed, round-table, buyer-only discussions for buyers only, to debate issues of concern and share best practice with peers in a confidential environment. ITM has a packed calendar for the remainder of the year, so if you feel in need of some support in a specific category, or want to keep abreast of changes within the industry, take a look at our calendar. To view or register for all ITM events go to itm.org.uk Events are free for all ITM Business Buyer members.
