For the latest show news and updates follow #ISE2014 ProPanel iOS app control PRO CONTROL
The ProPanel app gives users complete control over any Pro Control system containing a ProLink control processor from their iOS device. Although there are lots of control apps available, Pro Control claims this gives an enhanced control experience thanks to such capabilities as full two-way feedback including cover art, weather graphics, dynamic

image lists and high-resolution graphics for the newest generation of iPad. It supports local connection via WiFi and offers remote-access via auto-switching WiFi and 3G wireless, so that users can control and monitor from almost anywhere. It also has a customisable graphical user interface, giving end-users a consistent experience across all Pro Control remote controllers in their system.
Also making its ISE debut is Pro Control’s iPro.8 Companion
Controller for iPhone or iPad users, which adds the convenience of a dedicated remote with instant connectivity and hard buttons for tactile control. It works as an extension of the ProPanel app and provides immediate access to common functions such as changing channels, volume and DVR transport. It uses RF technology for instant communication and is designed for use with any Pro Control ProLink processor with an activated ProPanel app. Stand: 5-R78
K-Touch gives virtual control KRAMER ELECTRONICS One app to rule them all…? ELKO EP
Increasingly, consumers expect to be able to do far more with their smartphones and tablets than just make calls, browse the web or take pictures. They expect, for example, to be able to control devices in their home – and that’s a need that exhibitor ELKO EP has responded to with a range of apps. iHC-MA is an application for smartphones running Android, while iHC-TA provides similar functionality for Android-based tablets. For iPads, iHC-TI is provided. All are free of charge
and downloadable from the Google Store or via iTunes. iNELS Home Control (iHC) is an application for controlling ELKO EP’s iNELS system and integrated technologies, allowing everything to be controlled from a single application from – via the LAN from home or remotely. Functionality includes: light switching and dimming; control of shutters, blinds, heating and air conditioning; control of sockets, irrigation, heating programs and multimedia; accessing multimedia resources; obtaining data from a
weather station; measuring and visualising energy usage data; communication with door phones; control of IP cameras; and control of Miele appliances. For controlling electrical units (connected to the central unit), the company says that the iHC application works directly – meaning that it does not require the iMM and Connection Server. To connect iNELS bus system with other technologies in the house, the Connection Server is necessary, as it serves to translate the IP protocols of third-party devices. Stand: 1-Q10
>>ExhibitorView It’s a generation thing
Technology changes rapidly and progressive integrators adapt to leverage this in their favour. Everything today is connected via IP and the IP Generation is reaping the benefits. Imagine servicing systems from a tablet in the Bahamas or optimising a client’s wireless network from a smartphone between taxi rides. If this sounds scary, then your pre-IP Generation business may already be getting left behind. Device management today is easier than ever with new software platforms, and devices

are more accessible through smartphones, tablets and the cloud. This is the new model of business for many integrators. By contrast, the pre-IP Generation is outsourcing elements of network management to IT consultants. They recognise the opportunities that IP networks present, but consider it the province of the IT world.
This becomes frustrating
when you consider the mark-ups made by consultants who program off-the-shelf products
and resell them to integrators. The good news? It’s easier than ever to muscle back control thanks to innovations in auto discovery.
Think how Apple TV gathers together iTunes just by plugging in and turning on. The process is so simple that non-IT people aren’t fazed by it. Auto discovery
Continuing to develop what the company describes as its line of easy-to-configure and easy-to- install control solutions, Kramer Electronics is showcasing the K-Touch system, which is said to allow the installer to easily integrate common touch devices as user interfaces in any Kramer- based control system. K-Touch is configured to communicate over a standard IT network, with no need to install it on a PC. Installed on the user’s iOS or Android touch device, Kramer says that a complete, advanced, touch-based room control system is easily designed and created. Together with a Kramer room
controller, the company claims that K-Touch users can control virtually any AV room with only a
few dedicated control buttons. K-Touch allows the installer, as well as the end-user, to enjoy a simple configuration, easy-to- install and easy-to-operate room control setup. The K-Touch admin and
screen builder are online cloud- based systems. Created user interface screens can be downloaded to a mobile device with the touch of a button and modified over the internet. K-Touch is supported on
Kramer’s SL series room control boxes and several Kramer RC integrated room controllers, which are said to offer simple configuration and a host of control ports. They can be controlled either via Kramer’s RC units or from a touchpanel device, using the K-Touch screen design system. Stand: 1-F20
vice president of sales and marketing, Pakedge Device & Software
Nick Phillips,
The impact of IP has carved out two generations of people, who handle the challenges of network management differently
facilitates the simple connection of devices in a network and presents two key areas of opportunity for integrators. Firstly, there is no longer a
‘Device management today is easier than ever with new software platforms, and devices are [also] more accessible’
need for outsourcing network construction, configuration and maintenance to IT consultants. Integrators can take the power back, keeping control and
eliminating extra costs. Secondly, in a climate where clients clog their networks with traffic from an abundance of connected devices, after-sales care becomes paramount. To save installers running from site-to-site to manage congested networks, the same auto discovery technologies can link to the cloud for remote access. Lower costs and easier access – now that sounds like a future all of us in AV can look forward to! Stand: 5-S122
