Make a quick camera connection VADDIO
New for ISE 2014 is a Quick- Connect technology that allows any Vaddio camera supporting Quick-Connect Short-Range (SR) to output USB or Ethernet. Based on Vaddio’s Quick-Connect technology that allows cameras to be extended up to 150ft over Cat5 cabling, USB cameras can now be deployed in system designs where distance was an issue. “Last year when we launched our USB PTZ cameras, we were amazed at the number of our integrators that wanted to integrate USB cameras into their projects,” said Rob Sheeley, president of Vaddio. “[Moreover] they also wanted to be able to

choose between any of the Vaddio PTZ cameras depending upon their project requirement. That way, they could have plenty of options when deciding what camera would work best for that room.” Vaddio’s Quick-Connect USB is based on UVC (Universal Video Class Device) USB 2.0 standards
that require no third-party drivers. An Ethernet network port is included for IP streaming supporting RTSP or HLS. Cameras are controlled through an embedded web server that provides browser-based robotic camera control, along with CCU image and colour control. Additional outputs include HDMI
Take note of DisplayNote NEC DISPLAY SOLUTIONS
DisplayNote NEC Edition is a wireless and screen sharing software from NEC Display Solutions that is designed to make business meetings and teaching more interactive. Content can be shared on a wide range of mobile platforms, with the option to connect to an interactive projector or large- format touchscreen. NEC and DisplayNote recently started developing deeper integration with NEC’s product
ranges, to offer expanded features and to move beyond education to also reach corporate users. New features include: a robust voting system; session recording for sharing and review; integration with Microsoft Office; and support for various cloud services. “Over the course of our
partnership with DisplayNote we have seen the power and potential of the software grow,” said Ulf Greiner, product line manager business projectors, NEC Display Solutions Europe.
“Our initial pilot projects and research revealed that schools and offices alike are now heterogeneous hardware landscapes, meaning people want to work from whatever device suits them best.” The software works across
Windows, Mac OS, Android and iOS, and integrated whiteboard tools allow annotation over any kind of media, software and content. Participants can add notes as well as share their content with others, allowing more collaborative working.

Future capabilities include the ability to hand control over to different participants, as well as integrated control of NEC wide-format displays and integrated wireless connectivity to NEC projectors. Stand: 4-R24
Conference calls for hi-fi USB phone REVOLABS
A new conference phone from Revolabs, the FLX UC 500 USB, is claimed to provide powerful high-fidelity audio capabilities thanks to its built-in tweeter and mid-woofer element – “effectively putting the speaker back into the audio equation”.
“For PC-based communication
applications such as instant messenger services, softphone calls or webinars, our FLX UC 500 USB conference phone is creating a new price- performance paradigm – providing high-fidelity audio capabilities via two built-in speaker elements, four
embedded microphones, and USB connectivity,” commented JP Carney, CEO, Revolabs. Its four built-in microphones mean that the FLX UC 500 offers full 360º coverage, boasting “an incredibly wide frequency range” to bring professional-grade sound to unified communication applications such as instant
messenger services or webinars at a new price/performance ratio. The new product is designed
specifically for conference rooms, small offices and homes, and promises improved audio clarity using straight-from-the- box echo cancellation without any additional processing. Stand: 12-A92
and HD analogue component. An RJ45 provides an RS-232 interface for third-party control systems, while an integrated LCD blue backlit display shows both the IP and the Mac addresses. Also on show are the WideSHOT and ZoomSHOT point- of-view cameras. Stand: 1-F98
DynamicVision for conference room aesthetics ARTHUR HOLM
When they are not in use, videoconference cameras can spoil the decorative aesthetics of a boardroom or the prestigious meeting rooms used by some organisations. To avoid this, Arthur Holm has developed a new DynamicVision system that provides a motorised mechanism with a customisable protective screen, which can be used to hide and/or retract videoconferencing cameras into when they are not in use. It means the camera can be hidden discreetly and quietly, and protected from knocks and dirt, while remaining elegantly integrated in its environment, as the cover screen can be customised to become just another decorative element of the interior design.
DynamicVision is compatible with all existing conferencing cameras on the market, being operated by open protocols such as AH-Net or RS-422, the same management protocols used for the rest of the room’s equipment. Both camera and DynamicVision can be controlled by Sound Control Technologies; only two Cat5 cables are required to complete its installation. Stand: 12-E90
