A new processor for video contribution over IP, the V__link4, is being showcased by Lawo. The device allows the transport of compressed or uncompressed 3G/HD-SDI signals over IP networks. Offered as a tool for signal
transport within a building, as well as for signal transport between cities or even continents, the V__link4 is said to allow the efficient use of IP infrastructure via virtual cabling. It combines a fully
bidirectional, four-channel Video- over-IP interface, along with all the processing tools usually needed when contributing video
The Lawo V__link4 offers a one-box solution for video-over-IP contribution
and audio. The company claimed that as well as increasing the flexibility of any audio and video application, the unit could save valuable rack-space, set-up time and production costs. The Lawo V__link4 provides four 3G/HD/SD-SDI inputs and outputs, two 10Gbit Ethernet ports and four 1Gbit Ethernet ports, as well as MADI and Ravenna audio connectivity. The V__link4’s four coding engines are designed to meet the highest
demands in video quality and signal transport reliability. It offers integrated error concealment with built-in frame store and parallel redundancy protocol (PRP), which allow the system to overcome any single network failure without affecting data transmission. Format and quality of IP video streams can be configured to meet the optimal ratio between picture quality, latency and bandwidth. Stand: 7-T220

MultiUser MultiTouch AppStore launched EYEFACTIVE
The first AppStore designed especially for professional touchscreens has been launched by eyefactive. While large displays with multitouch functionality are becoming very popular in the
digital signage industry, eyefactive claims that “a lack of appropriate apps is still a limiting factor concerning the vast possibilities of using such large systems in a professional context”. Compared to consumer tablets, the large size of the screens and increased number
of simultaneous touch recognitions have made simultaneous, parallel and even joint multi-user operation of software on a single display possible. “Though the difference to mobile consumer apps may appear small at first glance, the conception of apps does call for
a completely new approach here,” it says.
These MultiUser Apps are
being created by eyefactive, as part of a complete ecosystem consisting of administration software, AppStore and development tools, to enable external developers to create and
distribute their own MultiUser Apps. Apps can be tried out free of charge and without obligation after an initial registration at
