‘4K is the natural evolution after the success of HD as people look for greater immersive experiences. Sony is leading the way, with its range of 55in, 65in and 84in 4K TVs, and its award-winning 4K home

cinema projectors (VPL-VW500ES and VPL-VW1100ES). We’ve already seen how technology has transformed the business environment into a more interactive and empowering space where it is easier to communicate and bring ideas to life. The opportunity for custom install is huge.’ Damien Weissenburger, head of display solutions, Sony Europe

This 230V system has an Ethernet port and can be controlled from a PC, laptop, tablet, smartphone or e-reader, and also in the house itself via touchscreens in the walls. There are apps for Android and iOS devices. Stand: 1-P18, 1-P19, 1-Q14, 1-Q20

HTE has designed a new, top-end luxury 18-seat home theatre, which it has installed at ISE 2014 so that visitors “can experience and feel our dynamic and sophisticated design in a true high-performance and luxurious set-up. This is a first of its kind to ever be built for a show,” said HTE founder Maurizio Conti. It combines the warm colours

of hardwood floor with an elegant mix of silk and acoustically transparent fabrics that guarantee correct sound diffusion throughout the room. The wall structure consists of aluminium

stud and various panels at different depths, with four recessed housings where niches or fixed panels can be positioned according to a customer’s preference. The set-up includes Wisdom Audio’s Line Source speakers, and HTE engineers used spatial acoustic optimisation to take into account their high SPL reproduction to design and select the correct acoustical environment. A combination of diffusers and three specific absorbers are used to control all acoustical aspects while remaining totally hidden in the furniture structure. Stand: 5-U116

What are the hottest trends in residential solutions at the moment?

‘In the residential solutions world, products that make it easy for consumers to control their homes and easily access their content regardless of its

source are getting more and more attention. Consumers want all the features that new systems can offer, but they expect integration and simplification of very complex capabilities. Kaleidescape’s role in the value chain is that we take the complexity out of movie consumption and deliver it with unprecedented quality and ease of use that’s second to none.’ Cheena Srinivasan, founder and executive vice president, Kaleidescape

‘For Genelec, the increase in music streaming services and multi- room audio systems are important trends. It’s one of the more accessible technologies in the home and our home

audio range, the G and F Series, will allow people to get the best from their system. Gaining ground in commercial applications, and emerging in home cinema projects, are 3D soundfield systems, such as Auro-3D and Dolby’s Atmos. Picture quality has been king, certainly in residential AV, but now I am looking forward to aural quality getting the attention it deserves.’ Lars-Olof Janflod, PR and marketing, Genelec

‘The standardisation of IP has been critical for a lot of technology advances in the AV world. Systems are now becoming truly integrated over IP,

whereas in the past

gateway products were needed to translate proprietary protocols, which never resulted in a truly integrated solution.’ Nick Phillips, vice president of sales and marketing, Pakedge
