Starting a business – your rules, your way
Matt Roberts, Founder, Bean2Bed
The Bean2Bed concept was born in the dorm rooms of Aston University in 2005 when Matt Roberts and a friend had a lack of guest beds for visitors one weekend. ‘If only that bean bag in the corner could flatten out so that someone can sleep on it’, they thought.
This idea turned into reality thanks to dogged determination and with the help and support of Aston friends, lecturers and even using the halls of residence as a stock room!
Along there way there has been blood, sweat and tears as well as incredibly steep learning curves.
Bean2Bed now deliver their products across Europe and have franchised in two continents. The products have been featured on the BBC and Channel 4 and are proud to have a number of famous customers.
Matt will be talking about his start-up story including the highs and lows and how if you believe in a concept you should follow your dreams.

What a 12 year old can teach you about business Nathan Littleton, Director, Future Visions
Nathan Littleton is an award-winning entrepreneur with a difference. He entered the cut-throat world of business while still wearing his school uniform! So while most of his peers were studying for exams, thinking about university and contemplating a life working for someone else, Nathan was making money, challenging assumptions, asking questions and launching a company that other people would work for.
After starting his own business at the tender age of just 12, he has become one of the UK’s best and brightest young business figures, with more experience in the fast moving internet industry than most people twice his age.
His precocious talent was recognized early in his career. At 15, Nathan was enlisted to teach web design to students at his school, becoming the youngest ever council employee in the UK.
His astonishing expertise in designing and making money from websites has seen him work with some big names, including Aston University, thebestof, Apollo Blinds and InXpress. He now employs a dynamic team of designers and developers and won the Institute of Directors’ prestigious Enterprising Young Person of the Year Award.
