Papa John’s boost franchise growth with new Uxbridge outlet


n Leading pizza franchise Papa John’s has a new addition to its growing franchise network with a new Uxbridge outlet opened by existing franchisee Zahid Sadiq. The official opening took place on


Saturday 31 August and was attended by the local mayor of Hillingdon and councillor Alan Kauffman. Visiting customers were delighted to receive free pizza at the pizza party. The store was opened by owner Zahid Sadiq who commented: “Our


new store has already proven to be very popular in the weeks we’ve been open, with Uxbridge residents experiencing first hand our ‘Better Ingredients, Better Pizza’ philosophy, which has made us famous across the world.”


The opening is one of many recent new Papa John’s stores across the country following the success of its $2million incentive scheme. There are plans for 20 new UK sites to be launched over the next six months.


Fitness franchise plans to expand in Ireland


n LEITRIM-based fitness franchise Sasta Fitness will open 20 new outlets in Ireland over the next 18 months, creating 105 jobs. The business is based around a special treadmill-based fitness pod, which uses vacuum technology, as well as one-to-one coaching. Sasta, launched last September, currently runs five franchises in Ireland


– in Athlone, Carrick-on-Shannon, Cavan, Naas and Sligo. The company also intends to expand into the UK in 2014 with 10 new outlets. Founder and former accountant Fiona Egan said it was the right time to expand the business in light of increasing awareness of issues arond obesity and the importance of exercise.

The UK economy grew by 0.7% in the second quarter of 2013, up from 0.3% in the first quarter of the year, according to revised figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS).


The figures mean that the economy has now recouped almost half of its total 7.2% contraction during the 2008-09 recession, with output remaining 3.3% below its pre-recession peak.
