INSIGHT Supplying something special

For 60 years Achilles Seibert GmbH has been known for supplying the ‘small’ via the ‘standard’ to the ‘long and thin’ in DIN standard and special bolts, as well as coating and thread locking. To complete this offering the company has expanded its range of special and CNC parts, to drawing.

A

chilles Seibert, based in Henstedt-Ulzburg, Germany, has previously dealt with small quantities of specials, but last year decided to put extra focus on its specials range.

To do this Achilles Seibert hired a new employee, experienced

in purchasing and sales, who also has knowledge in industry and the trade both as a customer and a supplier. This enabled the company to develop all the special parts and CNC parts needed to expand its range further.

looking to develop new markets. This is why we have expanded our specials range and also why we are also looking at new foreign markets that could be of interest.” A new market that Achilles is currently studying is the Russian

market. The company recently exhibited at Fastener Fair Russia to help it further research and understand the marketplace. “If you are looking at entering a new market it is difficult to do so from just sitting at your desk. You need to get into the market and make the right contacts,” says Timo. “At previous fairs in Europe we had seen an increase in visitors from Russia. However, there were problems with language and communication, as well as that we didn’t understand what the customers were looking for. That is why, in cooperation with Schroeder Schrauben, we exhibited at Fastener Fair Russia and it was definitely an interesting show. We learned a lot about the local fastener industry and the difficulties that companies can face trying to enter the market.” As well as exhibiting at Fastener Fair Russia,

Achilles also recently exhibited at the International Fastener Show in Tainan, Taiwan. “The Taiwan show was great, it met all of

our expectations and more. Traditionally it is a purchasing fair for us - we visit our suppliers as Taiwan is still one of our biggest purchasing markets. However, in the previous fairs we saw a lot of European customers at the show. Of course this means that you talk to your customers, which

drawing, within 48 hours,” explains Timo Scholle, general manager, Achilles Seibert. “Most of these specials are short runs – normally when a customer needs to repair an item, meaning they need them fast.” Achilles’ specials are available domestically for

its industrial customers and for its trade customer it supplies across the whole of Europe. “We want to show customers that we are more than just the well known very small and very big - we can also supply everything around it,” adds Timo. Whilst developing its specials range Achilles Seibert is still fully committed to its traditional DIN standard products. “We are still very much focused on our traditional products and customers,” states Timo. “We are continuously looking at introducing new DIN parts and have a very good relationship with these customers. It is important that we continue to provide good quality products, as well as a good service.” Timo continues: “Whilst DIN standard products

are the foundations of the business, I think that it is important that as a company you are always

isn’t very practical in the middle of the hall. We therefore had a small stand that would enable us to sit down and talk to both our suppliers and our customers. This was definitely the right decision as we had a lot of customers and suppliers to our stand. We even met some new European customers at the show.” www.achill-fasteners.com
