APPLICATION TECHNOLOGY No margin for error

A leading medtech company has taken advantage of Bossard’s C-parts management service for several devices for medical diagnostics – where every mechanical component must operate with the utmost precision.

on all common implanting lines, alongside outstanding ageing resistance and long-lasting flexible properties due to high rubber content. tesa points out that its HAF 8414 HS can also be used to embed the antenna and chip in dual-interface cards that transmit encrypted information on contactless payments - supporting dynamic card authentication processes in the fight against financial fraud. The antenna enables the user to tap the card against a reader or terminal and the transaction is done, there’s no swiping, inserting the card, PIN or signature required. This technology speeds up transactions and offers much higher security because it doesn’t leave the owner. This therefore reduces the opportunity for the card to be skimmed and with less wear and tear on the card it has a longer shelf life.

he initial bolt procured through Bossard (pictured right) ensures ultra-precise centering of the needle for pipetting reagents from the various cartridges. Reagents are agents that can identify a substance in the blood. The bolt is used to configure the position of the draw-off needle before the analysis run.

An engineered product (pictured left) was also used as part of a blood analyser for clinical chemistry and

immunology in labs. The machine is used to analyse just a few specimens or to perform several hundred tests per hour, depending on the model. Overall Bossard coordinates approximately 120 suppliers of engineered products and saves the diagnostic solution provider the need to process 4,000 to 5,000 orders per year, including incoming goods inspections. Because of its experience with C-parts management, Bossard has become the medtech company’s

preferred partner. The customer indicated that choosing Bossard had been the best decision it could have made and it is already considering expanding its collaboration.

Adhesives keep rail industry on track

Huntsman, a global manufacturer of differentiated chemicals, says it is focussed on delivering solutions for specific markets, including the rail industry.

he rail industry uses composite materials for making exterior and interior parts as well as infrastructure components in combination with adhesive bonding, replacing soldering or fastening solutions in the delivery of long term performance and durability. For exterior parts, Huntsman’s Araldite®

AW 4859/HW 4859 is an example of an epoxy adhesive that 2013 epoxy adhesive is also being used to bond GRP train driver cabins because of

its excellent adhesion to substrates, high durability in ambient weather conditions, fatigue resistance and toughness. It also supports greater design freedom, providing a fast and efficient bonding solution for producing the more complex and ergonomic shape of composite driver cabins now seen on the new generation of high-speed trains. Huntsman has also developed Araldite®

properties. Offering adhesion on metals and composites, this UL 94 V-0 and NF F 16-101 I2 and F2 approved two component epoxy adhesive exhibits flame retardance, low smoke density and low toxic emissions.

tesa® esa® helps combat credit card abuse

tesa, a global manufacturer and supplier of adhesive tapes, is working with a UK credit card company in the development of sophisticated credit card technology.

HAF 8410 HS is a heat activated double-sided adhesive film designed

for the embedding of chip-modules into smart cards with high security and long life requirements. Based on reactive phenolic resin and nitrile rubber, it can be used on PVC, ABS, PET and PC cards, offering good workability

2033 which allows the possibility of using an adhesive with flame retardant
