Why struggle with manual bolt clippers?
Damar International Ltd, a specialist in supplying quality hand tools, cutters, machinery and equipment to the wire industries, has announced two new models of pneumatic croppers.
he first new model incorporates a 30 degree angled cutting head for a flush cutting effect often needed when cutting in-situ bolts. The second development is aimed at cutting stranded pre-stressing wire of 16mm (7mm x 5mm) with up to 10 cuts/min. Damar says that manual bolt clippers are usually heavy and cumbersome and that the larger the diameter of wire to be cut the more strength the operator has to have, and when the wire also has the higher tensile strength found in hard or even pre-stressing wire, it becomes a bigger problem. Damar’s solution is to use a pneumatic bolt cropper which can cut the material with just a finger trigger. For pre-stressing customers, Damar says it is able to offer
T
its own unique special blades with added length to make it easier to cut in narrow places. In addition these special blades last much longer than the standard blades so will help to make a saving in the long term and cut costs.
Hilti enters wood nailing field
Hilti has launched its first fix framing nailer, the GX 90-WF, which features a unique safety feature on the tool nose to prevent free firing.
H
ilti says its first gas-actuated fix framing nailer has a jagged tool nose which has been designed for maximum grip when compressing the tool against wood material. The GX 90-WF also includes an
additional safety sleeve that means the risk of accidental firing is reduced, increasing safety for the operator. The long, sharp claws also makes fastenings possible at a
tool compression angle of up to 45° with a protective cap available to avoid damage to specialist surfaces. Energy is supplied by gas, which Hilti says will power over 1,000 fixings. The pack comes with two rechargeable 7.2V lithium-ion
batteries for reliable cordless operation. A new style magazine allows two strips of Hilti nails to be loaded, giving a typical capacity of 75 nails to improve operator efficiency. Designed for use in the structural framing, roofing and interior finishing trades, the product uses a variety of nails in a selection of finishes that are fully CE marked and meet the requirements of Eurocode 5 - code for structural timber buildings. The tools also come with Hilti lifetime service, which gives
the purchaser a complete no-cost period of two years covering the tool, batteries and battery charger.
Durable and cordless
FEIN presents its ASCS 4.8 and 6.3 cordless metal screw guns with lithium-ion technology and a brushless EC (electronically commutated) motor, developed for the requirements of metal processing companies, especially roof, facade, plant and automotive construction.
T
he lightest screw guns in their class, FEIN says these tools enable high precision screwdriving when joining metal on metal, wood on metal or supporting structures. The electronic torque shut-off prevents the screw from rotating too far or shearing off while ensuring safety and achieving a high repeat accuracy.
Manufactured in Germany, FEIN has produced a system comprising a maintenance-free
and powerful EC motor, electronic torque shut-off and high-quality lithium-ion batteries with a capacity of 3,000 mA. FEIN says its state-of-the-art technology delivers outstanding performance for cost-
effective, precision screwdriving at a weight of just 1.6kg or 1.8kg. The ergonomic screw guns allow for fatigue-free working and are designed to be used on at least one million screws. FEIN points out that these two guns are ideal for various applications, achieving torque
of up to 30Nm and speeds of up to 2,500 rpm. The ASCS 6.3 is for universal use, delivering optimum speeds for fixing thread-shaping screws, self-drilling screws and winged tek screws with diameters of up to 6.3mm. The 18V lithium-ion batteries ensure approximately 150 screwdriving applications per charge into 1.25mm steel trapezoid sheet metal to 2mm sheet steel. Electronic speed control allows the force of the FEIN ASCS 6.3 to be safely regulated at higher speeds.
The high-speed ASCS 4.8 is a specialist tool for roof and facade construction. It uses 14.4V lithium-ion batteries and handles screws of up to 4.8mm in diameter. One battery charge can drive 300 screws into two 0.75 mm thick layers of trapezoid sheet steel and it weighs just 1.6kg.
