Modern listening habits

Fast adopting to the latest technology and changing customer listening habits, audio systems of today constitute a very wide and attractive sales offer.

The continuing popularity of audio systems and home cinema systems is due to their ability to adapt to new technologies and evolving listening habits. Over the years, audio systems have catered for the rise of the LP, cassette, CD and digital music formats, while home cinema has embraced VHS, DVD, Blu-ray and now, movie streaming and downloading, not to mention various surround-sound formats. As ever, it pays to spend a little time finding out what music formats your customer listens to – and then selecting the system that best suits their needs. The biggest selling audio system is the micro system, although sales of dedicated iPod/MP3 player docking stations have eaten into this sector. That said, many micro systems now offer docking functionality, allowing consumers to play their digital music libraries through the home system, whilst charging the portable device. The success of the iPod, iPhone and iPad has resulted in a number of audio systems offering docking functionality with these devices, in some cases, using Bluetooth wireless technology to connect them. Many consumers like being able to transfer music content from one device to another, and so features like USB recording and playback, MP3 connectivity, PC input and hard drive disk storage (for transferring CDs to an MP3 music library) will appeal to them.
