aerial. Freesat is a satellite service which offers around 150 free TV and radio channels. To receive Freesat, the customer will need to have a satellite dish installed (if they already have a dish, it could well be suitable for Freesat). Freeview and Freesat both offer EPGs for planning weekly viewing, and both include upgraded services that can also receive high definition channels (see below). It’s worth pointing out to consumers that they will need a digital TV recorder (such as a PVR) to continue recording TV programmes flexibly. Some digital TVs even have an integrated PVR.


High Definition TV


HDTV pictures have around four times more picture information than standard definition images, providing superb clarity. Consumers should be given the opportunity to compare an HDTV picture with a normal image – seeing really is believing. An HD Ready TV has a screen capable of displaying HD pictures, and an HD Ready logo informs consumers of this fact. Unfortunately, HDTV comes with some jargon, such as 720p, 1080i and 1080p. All of these refer to the resolution or sharpness of the HD display. It’s important to explain that all HD Ready sets can display HD pictures; however, a 1080p display (sometimes called Full HD) offers the highest possible picture quality. Film fans could be
