The Winged M History: the 2010s
The Winged M has gone through countless changes through the past century, with variations in its size, color and even frequency of publica- tion. It’s time for one more change, albeit a small one. This month, The Winged M introduces a new color scheme for its Activities and Athletics sections. It’s a small change in style, but one that keeps the magazine fresh. Another change implemented in recent years is The Winged M digital version. Visit
theMAC.com to find an interactive Flash version of the magazine to view online. For iPad, Kindle, Nook and e-book users, there is a PDF available for download. The magazine has come a long way since the first edition of The Winged M Bulletin in 1907, but the magazine’s mission remains almost unchanged since it was a small paper speaking to 3,000 members. In the words of the first editor, L.H. Gregory: “A town of 3,000 without a newspaper to report happenings and interests would be a curiosity. Consider that a club with 3,000 membership is a pretty fair little community in itself, and the field and need for a publication devoted to the club, its members and affairs, is plain.”
