Ducks and Beavers are Out for Blood – Literally

ast year MAC’s blood donor Ducks fans enjoyed a discount of a libation of choice for donating more units of blood than their Beaver buddies during MAC’s Civil War Blood Drive. A year later, the local Beavers fans are determined to bring it home for the blood bank.

Former quarterbacks Joey Harrington and Steve Preece agreed to champion this friendly competition between the school alums for the benefit of the Red Cross. MAC local legend Bud Lewis is really the man in charge, but he enjoys the help from MAC Staff and MAC member alums.

The Civil War Blood Drive is at MAC Tuesday, Nov. 29 and Wednesday, Nov. 30.

The Red Cross needs help, and here’s why: one donation can help save up to three lives; more than 38,000 blood dona- tions are needed every day; and every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood. Eighty percent of all blood donations made through the Red Cross are given at mobile drives held by volunteer sponsors like the MAC. The Red Cross manages nearly half of the nation’s blood supply, so these drives are crucial in helping to ensure blood is available to those in need. No matter what school colors donors wear – there’s even an “other” category – people benefit from the blood donations. Registration begins Monday, Nov. 21 in the MAC Lobby. The drive occurs on Nov. 29 and 30 in the Gallery of Champions. Donors must be 17 and weigh at least 105 pounds. WM
