theMAC.com
rediscover your website
MAC’s current website was launched almost two years ago. Like most websites, many areas are easy to use and understand, while others take time to learn. In upcoming issues of The Winged M, this page is devoted to explaining features and functions to help you and your fellow MAC mem- bers understand and rediscover your website.
Unlike Google, the search option for
theMAC.com uses specifi c areas of the website and members choose either the Calendar/Events or the Pages search options.
The Calendar/Events search option allows members to search event and calendar-item titles. When setting up events on the site, staff uses search words in the titles that members are likely to use, such as a sport, season or activity. The staff also use the Quick Register numbers found in The Winged M, on posters and in the class guides.
The Page search function searches page titles, like the Calendar/Event search, as well as search tags. The search tags are hidden in the website code but members may see the tags in their search results. The various staff members who add content to the website have continued to add keywords to the code during the past year. If members are unable to fi nd a page with the Page Search, please contact communications and we will add the keywords.
Mobile
The club is working with Clubessential to add a mobile site that offers reserva- tion, registration and other options.
The club is developing a mobile site with the goal to be live in December.
Many members have used their mobile devices to access areas of the website. Although functional, the website is not currently designed for mobile devices. The club is creating a mobile site with Clubessential, the club’s website devel- oper. Unlike a mobile app designed for a specifi c device, this is a mobile website that works on all modern devices. The site will use information currently on the site but in an manner optimized for a mobile device. The primary func- tions include reservations and registration. The plan is to exapand the features depending on member use. If members have suggestions or ideas, please send them to
