theme: Winter Sports. Volunteers 10 and older are invited to lend a hand any time between 9 a.m.-4 p.m. A continental break- fast and lunch are provided for decorators each day. To develop the theme of Winter Sports, the committee seeks donations from MAC athletes or former Olympians who might have vintage winter sports athletic apparel or equipment, particularly pieces featuring MAC logos. This could include anything – old ice skates, skis, sweaters, jackets, ski pants, scarves, hats, etc. Staff displays and stores all donated items carefully to avoid damage, and returns them after the holi- days. Anyone with items to donate should notify Member Services no later than Tuesday, Nov. 15.

The committee would like to make a special call out to male members who

Tree returns to the Main Lobby for the holiday giving season. For many years, MAC members’ generosity has meant a Christmas gift for thousands of children who might not have received any other. Starting Wednesday, Nov. 30, select a tag and return the gift no later than Wednesday, Dec. 14. Members should keep in mind that the gifts are child- specific, so they are sharing both in the spirit of the season and in a special child’s delight in being remembered. The gifts are donated to local organizations that support women and children in need. Gifts must come unwrapped, but including appropri- ate boxes is greatly appreciated. For more information, call Member Services at 503-517-7265.

Tree Lighting Ceremony and Open House

Thursday, Dec. 1 • Join members of the Holiday Decorating Committee as they flip the switch on the tree, kicking off the holiday season at the club for the annual tree lighting ceremony, one of the club’s favorite traditions. Everyone is invited to an evening of entertainment, holiday spirit

and the official lighting of the MAC holi- day tree on Thursday, Dec. 1. The lighting ceremony begins at 6:30 p.m. in Cornerstone Lounge but members are welcome to arrive early at 4:30 p.m. to meet some of Santa’s very special friends – the reindeer from Timberview Farm – in the Turnaround. Of course, Santa visits with good little girls and boys as well. Families may decorate pre-constructed gingerbread houses at 5 or 7 p.m. and enjoy musical entertainment throughout the evening. Reservations required for gingerbread making, and kits are $15 for members and $18 for guests until Nov. 23. After that prices increase by $5 per kit. All restaurants are open during the

event.
