Be Mindful of Guest Rules

The Porsche Cayenne, “Sport/Utility of the Year.” Motor Trend Magazine

he House Committee, which recently sanctioned several members for their guests’ misbehaviors, reminds members that they are responsible for the conduct of nonmembers that they introduce to the club. To prevent such occurrences, members need to inform guests of basic rules and accom- pany them at all times while in the club. Members should immediately take charge of any situation in which their guests’ behavior violates club standards or threatens to become disruptive, enlisting the manager on duty or other staff if necessary. Failure to do so may result in Club Rule violations against the hosting member. Social and athletic guests may not be unaccompanied in the club. Members who do not arrive with their guests should meet them at the appropriate entrance to sign them in and must stay with them in the club, whether dining or working out. A guest may not use one area of the club while the member uses another. Exceptions are made for areas segregated by gender, such as the locker rooms or restrooms. Members may not leave the club while their guests remain on site. By introducing a guest, members agree to be responsible for their guest. Therefore, it is unwise for members to introduce individuals they do not know, even as a favor to another member. Violations of Club Rules by guests may lead to charges against the members who sign them in. The House Committee inves- tigates the violations and may discipline the members if the charges are substantiated.
